West Riding Woodcarvers
A fascinating insight into the process of designing and executing the two World War panels created by the West Riding Woodcarvers.
From choosing the themes, selecting the topics within each them Airforce, Navy, Army, Civilian then selecting suitable pictures or photographs often having to adapt them to make them carvable. The next step is to convert the pictures into line drawings ready for the individual carvers. Each panel is assigned to a carver of the right skill - from novice to expert. The final stage is to assemble it all together for display.
The Woodcarvers brought some samples of the work they have done to amaze us with the intricacy of some of the expert carving.
