Past Times in West Yorks
Noel Moroney
Today's speaker was a smart and well-turned-out Noel Moroney who gave an entertaining talk on "Past Times in Yorkshire".
He relayed greeting from Brighouse Probus and explained the downside of being born on Christmas Day and of his driving licence showing his shortened name as Moron.
He gave a number of examples of historic links of the area to famous people such as Napoleon, Wellington and the composer Delius. Stories and facts about Titus Salt and his development of major industry gave many new and interesting facts about our area.
He ended with stories of Sudan Sunderland, Fred Gilbert and Joe Ragen and the saying "Today is a gift and tomorrow is still a mystery."
