Today’s speaker was Georgia from The Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice which is located in Bradley Huddersfield. This was Georgias second visit to Probus and she gave a very interesting talk on what they are about and there aims.
Russell House was opened in 1998 to give support for families who are facing or living with the loss of their child.
They provide outstanding nursing care in a non clinical setting, its is more like a home. They have a Hydrotherapy pool with all the facilities , a Sensory room with a touch wall and have just recently opened a cinema.
The cost of keeping the doors open has risen to £6.5 million a year of which they raise 80% of it themselves. They raise money in various ways, A weekly lottery, people hosting a fundraiser, donating items to sell in their shops, regular giving and leaving a gift in your will.
They are outgrowing the building are a proposing to build an extension to provide more care for more families which all costs money.
They provide a wonderful and caring environment for families facing the loss of a child or who are living with life changing conditions
There were many questions from our members and all answered eloquently by Georgia.
