Scams and Fraud Workshop

Today's speaker was Kathy Chadwick-Rayner assisted by Dee from the "Safer" group at Trading Standards who facilitated a workshop aimed at ensuring members be aware of current "Scams and Frauds".

Kathy gave an informed and illustrated overview of current scams and frauds likely to be experienced by members of the public. These included premium phone numbers, false prize winnings, fortune telling, investment opportunities, false tax refunds and false medical aids.

Most members had experience some of the examples given and Kathy was able to answer a variety of questions from members during the session. She also supplied a variety of written information for the benefit of being aware of current scams and frauds.
