Peak District Mountain rescue

Today's speaker was Mike France from Scapegoat Hill who is the England & Wales National Chairman of Mountain Rescue.

He showed a video outlining the work of volunteers ranging from mountain rescues to missing person searches in towns. They carry this out in often very challenging conditions with frequent disruption to their private lives.

Mike described the Management Structure of Mountain Rescue and their constant need for fund raising. A second video filmed by body and head cameras showed an actual rescue on Kinder Scout with the injured lady being helicoptered to hospital.
